Need a Babysitter, After-school program, or Full service Child Care Facility?

Everything Canyon Lake Kids-Find a Local Babysitter Service.

The only place parents need to go to find licensed full time child care, after-school programs or quality certified babysitters right here at the lake!

Everything Canyon Lake Kids-Find a Local Babysitter Service makes it easy to locate a qualified and trustworthy person to care for your children when you can't be there.

Licensed and Registered Child Care Centers or Homes:

Our list of licensed child care facilities has been verified by the State of TX Department of Protection and Regulatory Services but, more importantly, each day care location has received the approval of the  parents in the community and comes highly recommended as a great place for kids.

After School Care Programs:

Each after-school care program listed is either a Comal ISD SACC program under the auspices of the TEA accredited school district regulations or a Faith based Youth Program run by a community church program.  Periodically, Community businesses offer "Parents Night Out" or overnight lock-in events that are fun and safe for area children; these child care opportunities will be listed as well.

Canyon Lake Babysitters listed on our site:

  • are highly recommended by other local parents
  • have provided proof of completion of an approved babysitting certification program as well as of a CPR/First Aid course
  • maintain an A/B Honor Roll in school
  • Sign a Babysitting Code of Conduct
  • Must have written parental permission to be listed on our site and to babysit if under 18 years of age
**IF you are interested in becoming a certified babysitter, The American Red Cross offers an excellent certification course and regularly schedules classes: For more info, Click Here .  The local Girl Scouts offer a week long overnight summer camp program in babysitting and child care as well.

Go ahead, make plans for a date night or a "girls" night out-Finally, a reliable place to find a sitter you can trust!

Let's Carpool Canyon Lake! Parent Community Forum right on the site!

Everything Canyon Lake Kids Community Forum:

Creating a network for involved parents to connect and support one another within  the Canyon Lake community.  Together we can help make the day-to-day struggles of raising active and involved children a little easier for each other!

  • Do you have busy or active kids?
  • Are they scheduled to be in different locations at the same exact time?
  • Do you feel more like a chauffeur than a mom?
  • Is your gas tank on empty more than once a week?

As a single mom with 3 kids who have very hectic extra-curricular schedules, I know how frustrating it can be to have to be in 2 different places at the same time.  Canyon Lake is a large community and covers a huge territory. The cost of gas to bring your children to school, sporting or other events should not be a determining factor in enrolling your children in the activities they want to participate in!

Everything Canyon Lake Kids can help solve your transportation worries!

There is a community forum page located on our web-site where you can connect with other parents and arrange carpooling for team practices, dance classes, scouting events, etc.
Whether you need assistance for a specific one-time date or you would like to set-up an arrangement to share the driving duties for an entire season or school year, the community forum page located on the Everything Canyon Lake Kids web-site makes it easy for parents to share the burden and the cost.  Just click the link below to discover how easy it is to find parents who would love to "drive-share":

The Deadline for Parents and Students to select their Classes for Mountain Valley Middle School is February 15, 2013!

  • Middle School counselors are meeting with incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students this week
  • School Meeting for parents was February 5, 2013-if you missed this meeting and have questions, please call the school, (830)885-1300 and ask to speak with the counselors
  • All students must enter their class choices on-line at TXMyZone: https://itccsgb.esc13.net:5001/costu/zone.aspx, you will need to know your child's 6 digit student ID #, birth date, and last four digits of their social security # to access the selections.
  • In addition, all students must hand in the completed Class Selection form they received to their counselors by February 15, 2013.  This form must be handed in even if you entered the information through TXMyZone!

All 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Students are required to take the following classes:
  1. English Language Arts (ELA)
  2. Math
  3. Science
  4. Social Studies
Pre-AP Courses have returned to the Middle School this year:
Pre-AP courses are designed for high-achieving students who have demonstrated advanced skills in the subject.
6th Grade Pre-AP Choices:   ELA and Math only, choose Pre-AP selection if you feel your child has strong academic skill in the subject

7th and 8th Grade Pre-Ap Choices: All four of the above named required courses are offered at the Pre-AP level.  You can choose the Pre-AP option for one, two, three, or all four of these courses.

*Please note that the Pre-AP 7th Grade Math selection is titled Pre-Algebra
**The 8th Grade Pre-AP Math selection is titled Algebra I.  Successful completion of this 8th grade class will result in your child receiving HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT in math.

Gifted and Talented Students
Critical Thinking through Cultural Awareness I, II, and III is designed for those students previously identified as GT students and focuses on critical thinking and problem solving skills through an appreciation of cultures.
*6th Grade Students wishing to take other electives, may substitute this class in lieu of the Youth Leadership/Computer Applications requirement
**7th and 8th Grade Students may choose to take this class for the full year or for 1 semester

New Choice for 6th grade students for P.E. requirement:
Choose either:
 A.  Wellness-Physical Education-a PE class for students to continue to improve and develop their fitness knowledge through a variety of activities and sports.
B.   Pre-Athletics-is a new curriculum offered specifically for those students who plan to participate in an organized sport at MVMS in their 7th and 8th grade years.  This course is for those students who expect to participate in football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, golf, or tennis.

*7th Grade students must still choose between the Wellness:Physical Education class or the Athletics PE class
**PE is an elective at the 8th grade level as it is no longer a required class at this grade level.  Therefore, 8th grade students choosing to take the Foundation of Personal Fitness class will earn HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT.

Electives:

Electives include Art, Theater, Band, Choir, Speech, Spanish, and Career/Technical Education choices

  •  6th Grade Students are allowed one elective (due to the requirement that all 6th graders attend Youth Leadership for one semester and Computer Applications for one semester)
  • 7th Grade Students are allowed one full year elective and one semester elective (due to the Exploring Careers semester requirement)
  • 8th Grade Students are allowed to choose 3 full year electives
  • See Course Guide for specific Elective Course Options
Mountain Valley Middle School offers our children a wide variety of courses so that they can explore their interests and their own unique talents.
